Are you interested in serving on the Fairplay Town Board?

Nomination Petitions will be available beginning on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 for the April 3, 2018 Town of Fairplay Election. The Town has the Mayor and two Trustee positions up for election. Those seats are currently held by Gabby Lane as Mayor and Eve Stapp and Ray Douglas as Trustees. Nomination petitions will be available at Town Hall and can be circulated January 2, 2018 through January 22, 2018. All petitions are due back in to Town Hall by 4:30 p.m. on January 22, 2018. To be eligible for office you must be a registered elector and have resided in the Town limits for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the date of the election (April 3, 2018). Xpress Bill Pay – Sign up for paperless billing! Go to and log in or "sign up". Follow the prompts and you could be a member of the paperless world when paying your Town water and sewer bill.

Sales Tax Increase Effective January 1, 2018 – Sales tax inside the Town limits of Fairplay has increased to 8.9%. The 1% increase is a result of the health services district being approved and funded by the voters in the November 2017 election. The 1% will go directly to the newly formed Health Services District in Park County.

Fairplay Election – The Town's regular municipal election will be held on April 3, 2018. Two Trustee seats and the Mayor's seat are up for election. Nomination petitions will be available January 2nd and due back to Town Hall by January 22nd. If you are interested please pick one up at Town Hall in Fairplay.

Holiday Lighting Contest – Congratulations to our Holiday Lighting contest winners! Brion Trahan, owner of Mountain Sun Arts at 435A Front Street and David & Robin Kintz, 230 Third Street. Trahan won $300 in the business category and will be using his check to help advertise businesses on Front Street. The Kintz family won $200 in the residential category and will be donating a portion of their check to the local chapter of the Salvation Army. Thanks to all of the businesses and residences who shared their holiday spirit by lighting up their properties for Christmas this year.

Date change for Fairplay’s Wearable Art Festival(aka Fairplay Bead and Fiber Show) – In an effort to increase attendance of vendors and shoppers we have decided to try a new date for this event. In 2018, the Town will host the Wearable Art Fest on June 9 and 10. The Contin-tail Rock and Gem Show will occur at the same time and both events will complement each other nicely. The event location will remain on Front Street and still host wearable art vendors, a beer & wine garden and great shopping opportunities. More updates will follow. Business Licenses – The Town of Fairplay business licenses are now due for renewal. All businesses or individuals engaged in any activity with the object of financial gain are required to have a Town business license. If you are doing business in Fairplay, please renew your license right away. If you have questions please contact us by phone (719) 836-2622, or stop in at Town Hall. Business license applications can also be found at Documents & Forms.

Dog License Required – All dogs over six months of age within the Town limits of Fairplay must be licensed. Any dog that has been spayed or neutered is $5. Any dog, male or female, that has not been spayed or neutered is $10. Licenses must be renewed each year. Come by Town Hall for the appropriate paperwork. Please note that you must bring your current vaccination records from your veterinarian with you. Please remember to clean up after your dogs as you walk them through Town.

Livestock Permits – The Town of Fairplay requires anyone keeping animals or fowl within the corporate limits of the Town to have a valid permit to do so, and no animal or fowl shall be allowed to run or fly at large. Animal Livestock Permits can be picked up at Town Hall or found at Documents & Forms. Feel free to call with questions, 719-836-2622.
